Effective 2026-09-14
It adds a companion pet to your Canvas pages. The pet reacts to how your semester is going: it gets happy when you submit, sad when something is overdue, and grows with your streak. Coins, collars, and new animals are earned by real work.
Nothing about the content of your coursework is collected. The only things that reach our server are what the game needs to keep coin balance accurate:
That is the complete list. Nothing else is ever sent. The extension's network code lives in a single file in the package (network.js).
Your name, email, Canvas user id, grades, submissions, assignment titles, messages, discussion posts, and anything about other students. To know how you are doing, the pet reads what is due and whether anything is overdue from your own Canvas session. That information stays in your browser and is never stored on our servers.
Your pet's mood and position live only in your browser.
To keep your pet across devices, the extension saves your device id in your Canvas account's private app storage. Only you can read it. It contains nothing about you.
Uninstalling the extension deletes everything stored in your browser. The id saved in your Canvas app storage stays until you ask us to delete your data. To delete your inventory from our server, email the address below with the device id shown in the extension's Settings section. We delete the device and everything stored under it.
No accounts, no passwords, no Canvas access tokens, no tracking of your browsing, no advertising, no analytics.
The extension and the server are open source: https://github.com/alec-mart/pets-for-canvas
If this policy changes, the new version is posted at this address with a new effective date. Promises made here bind anyone who ever takes over this project or its data.
